The streaming system has a filter that will trigger the member status as offline if the internet upload speed drops under 250kbps or the frames of the camera drop under 5fps, or if there is no actual motion on the stream.
This could be caused by:
- another application or device taking the upload bandwidth, therefore causing a drop in the upload speed
- webcam frames drop under 5fps, this could be caused by a bad driver, bad USB connection (if external webcam), or when the lights are turned off and the webcam cannot hold the frames above 5fps, due to not having night-mode support.
- High CPU load, low Ram capacity, or other limitations on the device can cause a drop in performance, hence a drop in fps or speed.
- No person is detected in front of the camera, and the system cannot detect motion, which will turn the status of the streaming member offline since the model left the streaming unattended.
We recommend you in such situations:
- To restart the internet router
- Ensure that no other devices are connected to the WiFi routers that could potentially cause bandwidth issues. Use www.speedtest.net to measure your speed, and ensure that you have more than 2Mbps. Anything lower than 2Mbps for upload will cause dips under 250kbps as soon as a new tab or application is opened.
- Try a different browser (preferably Chrome, Firefox, or Opera)
- Try a different device, if that is fine, then the issue needs to be locally diagnosed on the other device which is causing issues.
- Check your device task manager to ensure that it has plenty of resources to process the video stream
- Turn on your room lights, to ensure that the webcam can cope with the FPS, this will help with the video quality and customer retention, as your image will be crisp, which members enjoy. Dark rooms cause webcam FPS drops if not specifically designed with a night mode.
- Do not leave your stream unattended, or cover the webcam, as the system will detect no motion and will turn your status offline.
Should the issue persist, after you have tried all the above, please send us the results from www.speedtest.net and the exact time when this happened. If possible, please send us a recording, using your smartphone of what you experience on your desktop/laptop device, so the tech can see the actual feedback that the preview image display from your webcam feed. You can contact us through this form (click here). You can upload your screenshots directly to the form, for the video/recorded content, please use Dropbox or Google Drive and send us the folder link, ensuring that anyone with the link can access it.
