Disclaimer
The guidelines below are not going to work for everybody. If you have a particular niche or cater to a specific type of client/offer a specialized service; you likely already know how to operate your business and conduct yourself accordingly. These are some general tips for Service Providers to provide a helping hand if you are new to webcamming, or if you have noticed a decline in business.
Remember: There is a lot of competition out there nowadays so you should also think about ways that you can stand out from the crowd.
Appearance and Attitude
If you want to appeal to a wider audience, we'd recommend taking the time with your appearance to get yourself ready for the day.
Similarly, if you come across as tired, bored, or as if you just don't want to be there, you may not earn as many credits. Taking the time to welcome members when they enter your room can make a big difference.
Lighting
Lighting is important when webcamming as you need to be clearly visible to your clients; it also helps to improve image quality as all the camera does is capture light, more light = more detail.
The direction that the light is coming from is equally as important as how much light there is. If you have bright lights pointing at your camera, the image will be washed out and it can make you appear darker/harder to see. A good rule of thumb is to keep the light source behind the camera but facing you; keep this in mind if you are using a window for your main light source.
Field of View
The camera's field of view is simply what it is able to see, if possible, we would recommend a dedicated room/area to cam from. You may change the field of view depending on your preference, room setup, and lighting conditions. It is important to secure the room/area that will be in view; we, therefore, require that you:
- Remove any family or child photos from the walls
- Remove any child toys etc. from view
- Make sure other people, children, or animals do not wander through the background (or foreground)
To enhance your customer's experience, you may want to make your room tailored for the services you provide by decorating it.
Audio
Wherever possible, we'd recommend webcamming from a room that does not have a lot of audio interference, say for example avoiding rooms that are adjacent to high-traffic roads; if that's not possible try to keep the windows closed to minimize the sound.
If the room you webcam from has an echo, you may want to try and rearrange your furniture or add some if possible. Audio is often overlooked but is a key part of client experience; the fewer distractions they have, the better experience you will both have which often leads to longer and/or repeat sessions.
Session Modes
To see the difference between each mode, please see this article.
We highly recommend Service Providers offer Free mode as this is one of the best tools you can have to attract clients. Whilst it may not earn you credits directly (unless someone tips you), the chance to have a quick chat or to check that the service desired is on offer can be what Service Seekers need before they are willing to enter a paid-for mode. You can even set a time allowance so that people do not only exploit the free mode but also see more information here.
Whether or not you wish to provide Group or Private mode (or both) is dependent on yourself and the services you wish to offer. Keep in mind that you will need to balance your attention when in a Group session to keep everyone interested.
