If you have verified your mobile number, you should tick the SMS Chatbox on your Registration Details page.
When someone sends you a message, you will receive it on your mobile phone and can reply to it. (The 'From' number is not the sender's phone number). You can only reply to each message once; if you reply to the same message more than once, the reply will be ignored.
Note: Do not use emojis or smileys in your messages. Network operators detect that the message has a picture in it and treat it as a multimedia message. Such messages do not work with 2-Way SMS.
If the recipient has sufficient credits, the message will be forwarded to their mobile phone, and your account will be credited with 0.99 credits.
The recipient may then choose to reply to the message you sent, which will then arrive on your mobile phone as with the first message. You may continue to reply to each message you receive. As long as the sender has sufficient credits, you will receive 0.99 credits per reply.
We do not charge you for any messages you send, although your network will charge you at your normal text messaging rate.
If you're not offering SMS Chat but would like to have people contact you via SMS, then you can still participate by selecting 'Allow SMS' via your contact details page.
Why am I not receiving texts from SMS Chat?
Possible reasons for failure to receive at all or in time include:
- You have insufficient room on your handset to accept more messages
- Your handset is out of range or switched off
- Your network provider is experiencing delays in delivering messages
- Unfortunately, the speed of delivery to your mobile is subject to delays imposed by your network provider.
- The sender included an emoji or smiley in their message, which results in it being converted from an SMS to an MMS message. Only SMS works with 2-Way SMS Chat.
