We have created a page giving some set-up instructions (here) but essentially you need to:
- Go to this page and when prompted, allow your browser to access your camera and microphone. If you don't allow it or block it, you will need to look in your browser or device settings in order to enable them again. Sometimes there is an icon in your address bar that gives you a quick route to change settings.
- Use the Settings icon in the broadcaster window to set and select your microphone and camera before you click Start.
- When ready to go and if your profile is active and offering Webcam Services, click Start.
This is modern technology and modern PCs and software make things easier. If you are using a PC running Windows or if you are using an Android device, use the Chrome browser. If you are an Apple PC, tablet or smartphone, use Safari.
The various pages showing cam hosts only update every minute or so. Be patient. Members using the new DirectCam Broadcaster will appear as Online on their profile pages first.
Not getting any customers? There are a lot of hosts now offering Free Preview. If you don't it is only likely you'll get previous clients entering your room on the off chance, people who already know what you look like and what you do on cam. You can change your DirectCam prices and the modes you offer via your DirectCam Settings.
If you're having connectivity problems, drop-outs, or if the customer is reporting video issues you will need to check your upload bandwidth. For a full 720p HD experience you should have an upload speed of at least 3Mbps. For uploads speeds of less than this, you can reduce both your video size and video bandwidth in the broadcaster settings.
The 4G-5G connection will not always be reliable enough for webcamming. If you're using a mobile device, find an area with good reception and don't move around. Preferably, use Wi-Fi over 4G and a cable to your router rather than Wi-Fi. Check your bandwidth on our DirectCam Broadcaster Troubleshooting page.
